My
story...continued
I sent an email to WSYX Channel 6 on Christmas Eve expressing my disappointment
in their actions. Today, December 26, 2001, I telephoned Heather Schreiber
at Channel 6 who had originally set all of this up with us.
Heather's story was a weak one. She just kept rattling on about how plans
were changed on the morning of Christmas Eve and how SHE had been looking
forward to their coming to my sister's home. I could barely get a word
in edgewise. I asked her specifically what the problem was. She hesitated
and said that management had made the decision not to send anybody out
that evening. She also said that my sister should have been informed.
I told Heather my sister was informed...at the very last minute and that
the man who called her offered her no apologies whatsoever. That was the
only time Heather even offered an apology to me. She asked for my sister's
phone number so she could apologize to her too, which she did.
My overall impression was that WSYX Channel 6 in Columbus just do not
care about their viewers and inconveniencing them. Heather didn't seem
bothered by it at all.
Shortly after Heather telephoned my sister with the "so-called"
apology, I received this email from the News Director at WSYX/WTTE Television:
Ms.
Cunningham,
After investigating with my staff, we had some
last minute staffing problems here that prevented
us from coming out. We apologize
for your disappointment.
David Silverstein News Director WSYX/WTTE
Hmmm....that
isn't the "story" that Heather gave me.
